STANDING UP TO TRUMP

I told ICE agents that they are not above the law when they come to Maine and threaten our communities and public safety. I have formed partnerships to tap into expertise to charge ICE agents when we’ve got enough supporting evidence to do so.

MAKING THE JUSTICE SYSTEM MORE PROGRESSIVE & FAIR

I expanded Restorative Justice, a proven, progressive approach to reducing future criminal conduct by helping low-level, first-time offenders accept responsibility and reconnect to their community. The new program has capacity for over 500 cases this year.

NEWS: Over 10% of cases last month (April 2026) went to new recovery or Restorative Justice diversion programs I created.

I make sure everyone has equal access to justice. I’ve made Restorative Justice and access to diversion programs equally available regardless of economic means.

I was the only prosecutor in Maine to support the 2026 Clean Slate Act so that people with a past conviction can more easily access jobs, housing, and education, and not keep paying for an incident that is supposed to be behind them. Learn more…

KEEPING US SAFE

I have refocused our work on prosecuting violent criminals to keep our communities safe.

I won a $2.5 million federal grant to test hundreds of stored rape kits, so we can finally investigate, prosecute, and give survivors a real chance for justice.

I created a Sex Crimes Prosecution Team to prioritize these under-prosecuted cases.

STANDING UP FOR VICTIMS & WITNESSES

I won a $2.5 million federal grant to test hundreds of stored rape kits, so we can finally investigate, prosecute, and give survivors a real chance for justice.

I expanded the Victim & Witness Advocate program to give victims information and confidence to navigate the judicial process.

I created the a private space for victims and witnesses at our historic courthouse — the “Lois Galgay Reckitt Room” — so victims can wait to appear in court without encountering perpetrators.

BREAKING CYCLES OF HARM

NEWS: Over 10% of cases last month (April 2026) went to new recovery or Restorative Justice diversion programs I created.

I created a new alcohol and drug addiction diversion program to help people find their way to real recovery.

I partnered with local agencies to connect almost 375 unhoused people to long-term housing and wellness.(Breaking news: Just in March/April 2026, our FUSE partnership placed another 18 unhoused individuals into long-term housing!)

I began fixing systemic problems in how we handle mental health to keep everyone safe and healthy.

I am leading a statewide task force to identify persistent problems in our civil mental health system and propose solutions to State Legislators.

“Jackie is a champion for innovative approaches that create new pathways to housing and stability. She figures out ways for the system to solve bigger community problems. She helps both the person and the community to wellness. That’s what works, and that’s what we want.

“Jackie is someone who not only articulates the right solutions, but someone who makes them happen. I’m honored to support Jackie Sartoris for District Attorney. Her work must continue.

Dear neighbors,

For too long, we were told that being “tough on crime” would keep us safe. But we’ve seen the cost of that approach: cycles of harm, neglected victims, and communities left without real, long-term solutions. True safety comes from being smart, fair, and willing to do the hard work of systemic change.

That’s what has guided me as your District Attorney. I believe in accountability, but also in the dignity of every person and the possibility of change. Over the past four years, we’ve built programs that reduce repeat harm and give people a real chance to turn their lives around—connecting hundreds of individuals to housing, treatment, and mental health care while ensuring victims are finally heard, supported, and prioritized.

We’ve also confronted painful failures head-on. For decades, hundreds of rape kits sat untested while survivors waited for justice that never came. That was unacceptable. I secured $2.5 million in federal funding to change that, and today, that work is underway—because survivors deserve to be seen, believed, and given the chance for justice.

We’ve expanded restorative justice, strengthened our mental health docket, and created a dedicated team to prosecute sex crimes—because safety means more than punishment; it means prevention, healing, and trust in the system meant to protect us.

But this work isn’t finished. In my second term, I will complete the testing of the rape kit backlog, improve how we respond to domestic violence, and continue building a system that is both effective and compassionate.

This is about the kind of community we want to be: one that values safety, justice, and compassion—not just in words, but in action.

I would be honored to continue this work with your support.

Will you donate to help me continue making progress towards more just outcomes & safer communities?

Unfortunately Maine’s Clean Elections program does not yet include District Attorney candidates, so we have to raise campaign funds the old fashioned way. Maximum donation is $1,050, and every little bit helps. Thank you!
